About the event
Welcome to BigInhale.com’s Therapeutic Breathing Online,
A few things to do to prepare for your breathing session:
- If you have not breathed with me at least 5 times in person, I must have the contact information of a friend, household member or neighbor who will be available to help you in case of an emergency - this is unlikely, but your safety is my main concern
- Registration is $20. If you have lost your income due to C-19, please reach out for a discount. PayPal and Venmo info: nicoleblair.1@gmail.com
- Please Download the Zoom Meetings App at least 30 minutes before the scheduled session
- Test Computer Audio - decide if you want to plug in headphones, earbuds, etc 15 minutes before the session - tech issues have a way of manifesting just before an event!
- You will need to set yourself up on the floor or on your bed - may want pillows under your knees
- Have a blanket or two nearby in case your get cold - regularly happens with this practice
- We will begin sitting up for instructions and remain sitting until we get the breath moving rhythmically, then you may lie down, but keep your head and neck relatively flat so that your airway is not obstructed by angles created by propping your head too high
- I must have a clear view of your chest, abdomen, throat and face for the session so that I can coach you in moving your breath freely, so please set up your computer so that I can see you clearly
- Just a few tips before the explanation and demonstration of the breathing technique
- Place a hand on the bottom of your ribcage and another just underneath that, above your belly button
- Breathe from your lower belly
- Fully expand your abdomen
- Expand your diaphragm
- Move the air all the way up into your chest cavity - your upper chest should also expand
- And up to your collarbone and out of your mouth
- Please resist pushing your breath out as you exhale or blowing out on the exhale
- Let the exhale come out as though you were fogging up a mirror or your glasses before you clean them, not a fierce wind. Very important for the process and for your comfort and safety
- It helps to relax your mouth, keep your mouth open wide and pay attention to the sound you make when you exhale. It should barely be audible.
- What to do if you get freightened or disoriented during the breathing session:
- slow down your breath, bring your breath back to your normal rhythm, breathe in and out of your nose, if possible, slowly sit up and drink water, wave your hand, or call me directly on my cell during, and/or after the session: 504-416-0590
- Please resist pushing your breath out as you exhale or blowing out on the exhale
